Squarespace, the provider of a website publishing and e-commerce platform, has raised $40 million in Series B funding from global growth investor General Atlantic. The capital will be used to continue scaling the company’s engineering, design and infrastructure teams in pursuit of delivering new products while accelerating global expansion of the Squarespace platform. Anton Levy, managing director and head of Internet & Technology at General Atlantic, is joining the company’s Board.
Squarespace provides creative tools that allow businesses and individuals to build their own personal and business websites and online stores. The service, available in 12 countries, starts at $8 per month and allows anyone to create a website without touching a line of code. The company also offers a developer platform that provides sophisticated programming tools for designers and website developers.
